 There are plenty of activities to enjoy on
the grounds around the lodge, such as
playing horseshoes or volleyball, running in
the grass, relaxing on the docks, and
excellent fishing (permits required). And
bring your own boat or jet skis to keep at
your dock for cruising the beautiful crystal
blue W. Kerr Scott Lake with its 55 miles of
shoreline and 1,475 acres of surface. Or
take a 5-minute walk from the lodge and rent
a canoe, kayak, or mountain bike from
Wilderness Lodge Canoes and Kayaks.
We even offer drop-offs and pick-ups for
self-guided canoeing or kayak trips down the
Yadkin River which gracefully empties into
the lake only a few miles from your dock.
Rent bikes and explore the mountain biking
trails such as the Overmountain Victory
National Historic Trail and the Dark
Mountain Trails which wind around the lake.
As guests of the Wilderness Lodge you will
also receive substantial rental and river
trip discounts from Wilderness Canoe and
Kayaks.
You'll never run out of things to do
outdoors! Visit any of the 4 state parks
around the lake, visit Skyline Marina or one
of the 2 bookstores, hunt for deer and wild
turkey in any of the 5 wildlife management
areas (license required and seasonal
restrictions apply), swim and sunbathe at
any of the 5 designated swimming beaches, or
just jump off your private dock and swim at
the lodge, fish off of any of the 3 fishing
piers or just catch 'em from your own dock
(permit required), stop and rest while the
children tire themselves out on one of the 8
playgrounds, explore the 3 overlooks, and
don't forget to pack your lunch and eat at
one of the 9 picnic areas. Whatever your
interests, this mountain lake paradise has
something for you!
